Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 20, 2026
CoordConv is built to keep routine coordinate conversion as browser-first as possible. This policy explains what stays local, what may be sent to third-party map or geocoding services, and what technical data may be processed when you use the site.
1. Core conversion data
- Core coordinate parsing and conversion are designed to run locally in your browser.
- Files used in the batch converter stay on your device during parsing, conversion, and export unless you choose a third-party lookup feature that sends a request externally.
- You do not need to create an account or submit a profile to use the core conversion tools.
2. When data leaves your browser
Some features depend on third-party services. When you use those features, the relevant input has to be sent to those services so the feature can work.
- Address search and reverse geocoding send the query text or latitude/longitude you submit to Nominatim, an OpenStreetMap-based geocoding service.
- Interactive maps load map styles and tiles from OpenFreeMap and related map delivery infrastructure so the map can render in your browser.
- The site loads web fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser may request font files from Google's servers when pages render.
- Like most websites, hosting or CDN providers may process technical request data such as IP address, user agent, referrer, and timing data to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
3. Cookies and local storage
- The site stores your theme preference in browser local storage so light or dark mode persists between visits.
- We do not use an account system to attach conversion history to a personal profile.
4. Retention and disclosures
- We do not intentionally store the coordinate strings, uploaded batch files, or exported files you process through the core tools.
- If you use third-party services such as map tiles or geocoding, those providers may keep their own server logs under their own privacy policies.
- We may keep operational records you send to us directly by email, such as support requests or bug reports.
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect the service, or to investigate abuse, fraud, or security issues.
5. Contact and policy updates
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product changes. Material updates will be reflected on this page by revising the effective date above. Privacy questions can be sent to info@coordconv.com.
